A thundering success

4 November 2013

Fun fair and Fireworks goes down a storm

Sunday night’s fireworks and funfair proved to be a successful night for the townsfolk of Bury with over 2,000 in attendance at Gigg Lane for a night of fun and noise.

Gates opened at 6pm with a large queue formed on Gigg Lane.  A travelling fun fair had set up for the night transforming the clubs car park into hours of fun for the little ones, and no so little ones, with rides and stalls in abundance.

With so many people in attendance the firework display was brought forward to a slightly earlier time on 7:45 and for that extra dramatic affect, the stadium lighting and floodlights were turned off just before the fireworks were lit.

A completely darkened stadium certainly got the crowd in the right mood before the first explosion came, and with the noise echoing around the stadium, the old girl proved the perfect location for such an event with the acoustics of empty stand helping to increase the noise levels.

The display finished around ten past eight with a round of applause from those that visited.

We’ve placed a selection of images from the fun fair on our official Facebook page and the fireworks display can be seen on video via our official YouTube channel.
