This week the Community Trust is launching its new annual report, Tackling Harder which details its successful year of activities across 2012/13.
The report highlights the vast and varied projects organised by the Trust across its key themes of health, education inclusion and sport over the last 12 months, the new projects introduced during the period and some of the aims and objectives for the future.
Tackling Harder includes a Foreword by Stewart Day, the Chairman of Bury FC who says,
“On behalf of the whole board of Directors, we recognise that Bury Football Club is at the heart of the community but we also want to ensure that community work is at the heart of the club. We are therefore rightly proud of the strong partnership the club has with the Community Trust.
As the Chairman of a Football League club I attend a number of meetings with other clubs and I am proud to say that I believe that this club undertakes more projects than many others that are having a real impact within the community.
There are very few clubs that deliver health programmes to people suffering from early onset dementia, walking football to men over the age of 50, educational projects to people who are not currently employed or in full time education or training, as well as delivering Zumba, boot camps and fitness sessions for new mums across the parks in Bury and holiday camps to thousands of children each year.”
The ‘Tackling Harder’ report highlights a number of key facts and figures showing the success of the Trust over the last 12 months including the 7500 people over the last year that have attended a Mobile Gym session, the 2750 young people that have attended a disability coaching session and the positive impact the programme has had on the lives of many young people.
The annual report also includes endorsements from Councillor Mike Connolly, the Leader of Bury Council and Councillor Rishi Shori, the Council’s lead on health highlighting the value the council places on its partnership with the Community Trust.
