Success for Shadow Squad Player

11 November 2013

One of the Bury FC Shadow Squad players has secured a contract at one of our local non-league sides.

One of the Bury FC Shadow Squad players has recently been successful in securing a contract at one of our local non-league sides.

George Johnson who is currently studying on the BTEC Level 3 programme run by the Community Trust was invited to attend a trial for Skelmersdale United Under 17’s team, whose first team play in The Evo-Stik League Northern Premier League - Premier Division.

George was released by Everton’s Academy last season and came to Bury FC to further his education whilst hopefully getting a second footballing chance. He is currently in the second month of his course, and following his successful trial has been signed by Skelmersdale United for the current 13/14 season to help him gain valuable footballing experience and confidence. He will combine this with continuing his academic studies at Gigg Lane.

The Trust is organising an education open day for anyone that is interested in finding out more about the educational opportunities available at Bury FC for people leaving this school this academic year.  The open day will take place on Monday 25th November 2013 between 5pm-7pm in the classroom at Gigg Lane.

For further information on courses available, please visit the full time education page at www.buryfccommunitytrust.co.uk or call us on 0161 761 1833. Otherwise please feel free to simply drop in on the open evening to meet with the staff and view the facilities within the stadium.
