Ronnie Jepson reflects on the a point at home to the Stags
'That was an ugly game! It was a great game of football at Portsmouth on Saturday, but then tonight Mansfield just want to turn you, look for set pieces and slow the game down so that you can't get the tempo going. The time that they were taking and the pace that they were going at was ridiculous and with that everybody gets frustrated. With the 7 minutes of injury time that the referee added on you could have added another 3 minutes onto that for the amount of time wasting that went on. We went to Portsmouth and they wanted a game of football like we did, we didn't go there and just shut up shop we went and played a good game of football. Tonight we weren't able to do that and get into our stride.
The lads were frustrated tonight; I went and had a chat with the them after the game and I told them they've just got to keep doing what they are trying to do.
We did create opportunities tonight, we got enough balls into their box and we missed a couple of good chances. I would have just liked for that ball to have gone into the net.
I feel for the lads and the fans, they want a result; everybody at the football club wants a result. In terms of efforts you can fault the lads and that to me is the pleasing thing so I can't go in there and really hammer them. There are one of two things that we can clean up on such as wide areas and when to get the ball and when to not, but overall the lads put in a great shift again tonight.
Everything about us whether it's training or when we are around the players is positive. The lads have just had a chat with us at full-time and they really are a good group of lads, they just need that win or a couple of wins on the spin to give them that confidence to go on.
Tommy Miller came off with an knock to the shoulder at half-time so he'll be a bit stiff tomorrow. I can't really comment on the sending off as I'm not 100% certain on what happened because I couldn't see it.
As for Craig Jones we obviously want him back in the squad as soon as we can but all of the players are valuable to the squad and the squad that have at the moment we'll work with - they're putting a great shift in. I just want us to be a little bit more clinical in the final third as we have been saying all season.
We had three strikers on at the end of the game after I brought Anton on, I just wanted the ball to drop to somebody but it just wasn't to be.
We'll have to asses one or two players for this weekend against Wycombe. There's been 3 games in 7 days and a bit of travelling involved in that but they are a fit and honest bunch so I speak with the seniors and say any problems or if they don't feel right then just be honest with me and we will act accordingly. We'll get the players into recovery now and look forward to the game at Wycombe on Saturday.
