The Community Trust launch their final film
The Community Trust has today launched their final film in the series of short films commissioned about the work of Bury FC Community Trust.
The new film, about the work of the education department highlights the unique appeal that a football club has in delivering educational qualifications and the combination it is able to offer of academic attainment along with football coaching, a games programme and work experience.
The film features the Trust’s full time teacher Mike Waterworth, alongside a number of students who are in the middle of their BTEC qualification in Sports Performance and Excellence.
The Trust runs a range of educational opportunities and currently run two main programmes, known as the Shadow Squad and the Community Team. The Shadow Squad is for people who have previously been within an academy system but have been released, and the community programme is aimed at people that love football and who would like to make a career from the sports industry.
As well as the classroom studies, all of the students on both courses get the chance to take part in a full games programme against teams representing other football clubs. For example, the Shadow Squad are today playing away against Swindon Town.
