Bury's FC Youth Team were beaten in the youth alliance cup
The Bury FC youth team were beaten in the youth alliance cup at home on Saturday. The defeat brought an end to the Shaker's 3 games unbeaten streak.
Bury were by far the better team on the day creating the better chances of the two sides, no more so than Navid Nasseri whose well taken effort hit the post on the 63rd minute.
The young Shaker’s caused problems for Lincoln breaking their back line almost at will but it was Bury’s final ball, shot or cross that proved to be the problem in finding the back of the net.
The strong start to the first-half was left un-capitalised by the Shakers. The good approach play that had been displayed was only to be let down by their final play on goal, which allowed a physical Lincoln side to edge their way into the game late in the 1st half with a series of set plays.
The restart of the 2nd half saw much of the same regarding Bury’s neat play from back to front just without a strong final ball.
Despite Bury’s determination and opportunities on goal they were hit with an unfortunate break-away goal. Bury’s goal kick fell short which led to Lincoln’s forward and Bury’s full back facing a one v one. It was the Lincoln forward who got the better of the situation playing a low cross into the area which was tucked into the near post.
Bury 0 – Lincoln City 1
Bury brought on Regan Walker for the last 30 minutes of the game. Walker showed flashes of sharpness after his layoff but even that wasn't enough for Bury level.
