Drop a shirt size proves to be a success
The first few weeks of the new Drop A Shirt Size programme, the male weight management project from Bury FC Community Trust has been a real success. Around 12-14 men have attended each of the first three sessions of the programme which take place in the gym at Gigg Lane on a Wednesday night between 5pm-8pm.
The project helps each individual participant set goals to help them reach a target weight by combining fitness and healthy eating habits; with everyone that reaches their goal being rewarded with a new Bury FC shirt in a smaller size.
All of the men that have attended so far have been set some initial goals by the Community Trust staff and the Bury Health trainers which involve healthy eating and maintaining and losing weight. They have also had a talk and some information from Billy, one of the Health Trainers about the importance of drinking water and portion sizes. Each participant has been given their own food diary to help them monitor and record their food intake during the week.
Most of the participants have also really enjoyed using the gym at Gigg Lane; particularly because they know that it is the same gym that the Bury FC players use during the day.
There are still a few places left on the programme and it is not too late to join up and start working towards that new Bury FC shirt in the lead up to Christmas.
