Developing sporting participation and potential
One of the main aims of Bury FC Community Trust is to encourage as many young people as possible to take part in a variety of different sporting opportunities.
Many people will be aware of the different football development centres that the Trust organises but may not be aware of the development centres that exist for other sports. This includes cricket, netball, volleyball, rhythmic gymnastics and cheerleading.
In total, the Community Trust runs 10 different centres across Bury each week, with sessions taking place every day of the week.
Each of the different development centres is run by fully qualified coaches with specific experience and qualifications in their chosen sport; many of the coaches have also competed and officiated at the highest level in their chosen sport. For example, Sian Godwyn, the volleyball coach was one of the volleyball officials at London 2012.
The majority of the development centre sessions cost £4 (with the exception of rhythmic gymnastics which costs £5) and are suitable for children from the age of five.
