Draw a line under it now

15 September 2013

Richard Hinds shows his disappointment and frustration after defeat at Fleetwood Town

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town, Richard Hinds reflected on the positive signs from recent performances and stated that a line has to be drawn under it now, though positives are there – its results that matter.

‘We are all disappointed with the result because we had hoped to get more out of the game.  If Anton Forrester’s chance had gone in, instead of hitting the bar, in the first half then we are 2-0 up and cruising.  Chance wise, Fleetwood have really caused us any problems and we are really disappointed that we have conceded two goals, but there are lots of positives to take from the game.

This is still a new group of lads and there are more positives coming from each game.  We have to be more clinical and more determined to defend our box and to score more goals in there box.  At the moment its fine margins that is the difference.

To come to a place like Fleetwood is difficult, they are title contenders.  There are positive signs but we just have to be more determined to get that result.  We are so close and at the moment it’s so frustrating for us, but we do have a good bunch of players here and I am sure things will come right.

It’s a long season and we’ve played Oxford, Chesterfield and now Fleetwood – they are all title contenders.  We played Burton who were in the play offs last year.  We’ve more than matched all four sides, if not played better than them.  We just have to take that and start getting the results.

We have to take the positives out of this game and not look at this result, now we have a big game at home against Southend United.  We’ve only lost one game by more than one goal and we are all just so disappointed to lose by the odd goal, it is so frustrating.  We just have to ask the fans to stick by us, they have been great for us so far and I just hope that they can see the positive signs.

We are putting 100% effort in and we are trying our upmost to get a result.  It’s just those fine margins at the moment.  There are lots of positives, but we have to draw a line under it now and get some results on the board.  It’s a results based business and it’s no use putting in a decent performance without getting a result.

Southend is a good game for us, we are at home and I am sure we can get the right result that we need.  The first goal next weekend will be crucial, on Saturday if we had scored another - it would have been game over.  We can’t just look at the result, we have to be positive and move onto the next one.’
