A fit Tom Soares talks about his injury and getting back into the side
I'm now fit again. I’ve started training again and I played 50 minutes of football on Tuesday against Blackburn. I feel really good and strong.
I am aware that once you lose the shirt it’s difficult to get it back and everyone is conscious of that. Competition is good to have within a team because it makes everyone fight for their place. Everyone in the squad has their own qualities and their own style of play – it’s good to have such a variation of players.
It’s been frustrating for me to sit in the stands and watch the games over the past few weeks and not being able to train. As a player you just want to be out there playing but you have to be sensible.
In regards to my injury I tore my quad. I tried coming back sooner than I should which aggravated the injury, but I have been given time to heal and I’m now fit.
Fleetwood will be a tough game for us at the weekend, they’re doing well. We are also doing well we’ve just been unlucky with some of our results. It will be a good game at Fleetwood, the boys are raring to go. I’m sure they’ll be worried about us going there on Saturday.
We’ve played some of the league favourites early on but we take each game as it comes - every game can be tough. Teams are now looking at us thinking that we are one of the strongest teams in the league. We now need to put in a good run to reach the play-off and automatic positions.
