Three years for Danny

18 August 2014

Shakers confirm Danny Rose on a three year deal

Striker Danny Rose has put pen to paper on a three year deal with the Shakers.

After arriving on a short term loan deal late on Friday, Danny Rose has started his second Bury visit with the best possible outcome – a goal.  Danny came off the bench at Hartlepool and took just six minutes to get back on the Shakers goal trail as he grabbed the second goal of the afternoon.

A product of the academy system at Barnsley Football Club where he joined the Tykes as an eight-year-old, Danny first arrived at the JD Stadium in March 2014 on loan until the end of the 2013/14 season, although his stay at the JD was brief having been recalled before the end of the season, Danny came off the bench six times and scored three goals.

One of the clubs main targets over the summer, manager David Flitcroft is naturally delighted to finally have Danny back with the Shakers and said:-

‘Hard work pays off – this has been a big chase for us and we are obviously delighted to finally get the deal done.  The fans love him, the players love him and we have really worked hard on this one, especially the Chairman.

He’s a fantastic kid to have around the place and we saw on Saturday just what it means to him.  It’s been difficult for Danny because he is Barnsley born and bred, it’s been difficult for his family because he wanted to badly and desperately to do well for Barnsley Football Club.  He has seen other players develop with their setup and he wanted it. He’s had to finish one chapter at Barnsley to move onto another with Bury.

Emotionally he was upset about it, but if he carries on with performances like we saw on Saturday at Hartlepool then he is going to upset defenders at this level and the next level.  We saw what Danny Rose is about with the calmness of the finish.  He’s just a hungry goal scorer – and he’s ours.”

Chief Executive – Glenn\ Thomas stated: “Danny has been a long term target of the Club since the end of last season. The Chairman is focused to deliver the quality of player needed to secure promotion. The Chairman has worked all summer to secure the key targets and the chase to land Danny has been a tireless objective that started in May at the Chairman’s conference.

Danny is the quality of player that can change a game, as Saturday proved and under the leadership of the Gaffer he will be an amazing asset for this Club.

Despite media hype, this Club is not breaking the bank or paying silly wages to secure new players, but with the Chairman’s commitment to the future of this club transparent we are now attracting the quality of player needed to deliver on the pitch. Danny is the latest addition to a top quality squad that want to play for Bury Football Club and deliver their best to the fans."

The season looks bright and there will be ups and downs, that’s the nature of the game, but with the fans behind them each week I am confident there will be celebrations ahead.”
