Danny Nardiello forces the game to a replay at Luton
Danny Nardiello's 91st minute equaliser against Luton Town earned Bury a replay to decide who would progress to the FA Cup Third Round.
Former Shakers loanee Mark Cullen opened the scoring in the 50th minute before substitute Nardiello struck late on to ensure Bury would be in the hat for Monday's Third Round draw.
David Flitcroft made four changes to the starting eleven that played against Dagenham. Adam El-Abd and Rob Milsom, both ineligible, were replaced by Pablo Mills and Jimmy McNulty whilst Andrew Tutte and Hallam Hope came in for Kelvin Etuhu and Danny Nardiello, the latter dropping down to the bench.
The away side created the first chance of the game in the 10th minute when Charlie Walker broke the offside trap but his lofted effort was wide of Rob Lainton's post.
The first half was a fairly quite affair with both teams resolute at the back. Hallam Hope had two half chances for Bury, his first blocked by Steve McNulty before he hit the side netting from the edge of the area.
Bury created the final chance of the first forty-five minutes when Danny Mayor made his way to the byline following a mazy run. He attempted to pick out a white shirt in the six yard area but Luke Wilkinson was in the way, even though his clearance was nearly diverted into his own net.
The Shakers started the second half well and created a chance within the opening minute. Nicky Adams crossed to the near post and Hallam Hope tried to flick the ball goal wards but Steve McNulty got in the way and cleared for a corner, which came to nothing.
Luton took the lead in the 50th minute through former Shakers loanee Mark Cullen. Scott Griffiths won the ball in the corner and put a weak pull back into the area which slipped through the hands of Rob Lainton and into the path of Mark Cullen, who couldn't miss from a yard out.
Bury had a chance to hit back ten minutes later when Danny Mayor played in Hallam Hope but the ball bobbled just before it reached him and his effort was high over the bar.
The Shakers continued to pile on the pressure for the equaliser but couldn't find a way to make the ball hit the back of the net. Danny Rose had a near post shot saved by Mark Tyler before Craig Jones fired over as he turned and shot ten yards out.
Luton had a chance to seal their progression into the Third Round in the 85th minute after the ball was given away in midfield but Ricky Miller hit the post with his left footed shot, a chance he would rue just five minutes later.
Four minutes of added time were signalled by the fourth official as the clocked ticked into the 90th minute and Bury grabbed an equaliser a minute later. Luton failed to clear a Chris Hussey corner and Danny Nardiello was on hand to slam home to earn a bury a replay.
The FA Cup Second Round replay will take place on Tuesday 16th December, 7,45pm kick off, at Kenilworth Road with the Third Round draw taking place on Monday evening. Bury or Luton Town will be ball number 46.
