Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro has joined The Shakers on a loan deal until the end of the current season

Born in Toulouse, the French / Ivorian striker has a wealth of experience in English League Football, having played over 150 games for Grimsby Town, Rochdale and Tranmere Rovers collectively.

He started his career with his hometown club, Toulouse, before a loan spell at Stade Brestois 29, and a brief stint at FCM Brussels before moving to the UK in 2008, where he joined Grimsby Town, and went on to score 8 goals in his 18 month spell.

At the start of the 2010-2011 season, he joined Rochdale, where he played a part in their respectable 9th place finish.  He left the Club after his 2 year contract expired, scoring 11 goals during his time there.

Signing for Ronnie Moore’s Tranmere Rovers soon after, he scored a brace of goals on his debut in a 3-1 win over Leyton Orient, and went on to score 9 goals for Tranmere, 7 of which came in a 10 game spell.

Speaking this morning, manager David Flitcroft said:  “Jean-Louis is obviously a player I have worked with before.  He is a player that loves football and loves to be involved in football.  He’s got a fantastic commitment to his game and has that pace, power and strength that supporters love to see.  He’s a player we have been tracking for a while and with him being out of the side at Tranmere we are delighted to have his services with us until the end of the season.”

Jean-Louis will take squad number 17, and has completed all the paperwork for him to be involved in the squad at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.  We’ll also have full reaction from Jean –Louis following Saturday’s game at the First Storage Stadium
