Clive adds experience

24 January 2014

Striker Clive Platt has signed a short term deal until the end of the season

Bury FC are delighted to announce their third signing of the day with the arrival of striker Clive Platt.

The Wolverhampton born striker has put pen to paper on a short term deal that will see him remain at the JD Stadium until the end of the current season.

Clive can list a number of clubs on his footballing CV, from Walsall to Rochdale, Notts County, Peterborough, MK Dons, Colchester, Coventry and Northampton Town.  With over 670 games under his belt and a total of 125 career goals, Clive experience will play a major part in the remainder of the season and the Shakers developing squad.

Speaking after signing his deal, Clive said:  “I’m excited about what I have seen after only one day at the club, the Chairman’s vision is something I very much want to be a part of.  Obviously I know the manager very well and his enthusiasm rubs off any player, no matter their age.  What I have seen in and around the club, and from the first training session, has impressed me enormously.  I’m excited by this challenge and I look forward to being involved as soon as possible.”

David Flitcroft meanwhile said: “This football journey at Bury is full of good people, and Clive is another great human being to have with us.  He knows football inside out and his experience will be invaluable to us in the final twenty games and will be extremely valuable for us to move forward.  Clive is a leader of men and enjoys leading a team.  His hold up play is second to none and now that we have plenty of pace and power in the squad, it will be important for Clive to hold the ball up for us.  Now it is my job as manager to make sure that the movement in and around Clive is devastating to the opposition.”

Clive will take squad number 22 during his time with the Shakers
