Partnership: Bury Girls & Ladies FC

20 June 2014

Club Partners up with Bury Girls and Ladies Football Club....

We are delighted to announce our partnership with Bury Girls and Ladies Football Club.

Bury Girls and Ladies Football Club were established in 1996 when a group of girls formed a team. This grew to 4/5 teams over the following years. The Club established their home ground at Phillips High School in Whitefield and they have been there for the last 15 years or so.

Diana Golding, Chair of Bury Girls and Ladies Football Club, spoke to us about her joy over the partnership, "The partnership with Bury FC is a massive leap forward for us in terms of progression and development and will see the ladies set up become even more successful. It will also raise the profile of female football in Bury and the surrounding area, which again will see us grow from strength to strength, providing even more girls with an opportunity to play football. We have a great vision for the Club and know which direction we want to go in and have the ambition to succeed. The future is very exciting and achievable, which I think mirrors what Bury FC is also striving to achieve."

Diana went on to tell us about her roles at the Club "I joined the Club approximately 10 years ago, initially in a coaching role for the Under 10s. This progressed as I strived to develop the Club and I took over as Chair about 6 years ago. We straight away gained our status as an FA Charter Standard Development Club and put together the first of our five year plans. We started to build the Club from the bottom up and introduced an under 8s section in 2008. This gave us a feed in to our junior set up. Next was to bridge the gap we had from Under 13s to adult. A new development plan was written which looked to take the Club even further forward, including a new adult set up.  A new First Team was formed during May 2013 following trials and they have successfully completed their first season together. 2014 now sees us adding to this up and coming squad in order that we will progress further through the female football pyramid.

The Club now has 12 teams with an age range from 6 years to adult, with teams at every age group from under 9s through to our Adult First Team. Each team is run by at least one qualified volunteer coach, supported by other valuable volunteers, and an experienced Club Committee.

Everybody at Bury FC would like to welcome Bury Girls and Ladies Football Club as a Club partner and we look forward to working together over the coming weeks and months.
