A double nomination

4 March 2014

Manager and Player of the month nominations for Shakers

Manager David Flitcroft and player Jim McNulty have both been nominated for the Sky Bet Manager & Player of the month awards

Scott Hogan (Rochdale) — striker
An integral part of Dale’s fast-flowing football, he stood out by scoring four goals including a 16-minute hat-trick in the 3-0 win at AFC Wimbledon. The other via a curling finish after a forceful run and shot against Morecambe.

Keith Lowe (York City) — central defender
A defensive rock at centre back since coming in on loan from Cheltenham Town. He displayed his strength in the air and shrewd reading of the game as York went unbeaten in February, conceding just a single goal in four matches.

Jim McNulty (Bury) — full back
Switching between left back and central defence, the January arrival brought a stability to the Bury back four which let in just two goals in five games. Strong in the tackle, pacey and an accurate crosser, he displayed his skill in both boxes.

Sam Winnall (Scunthorpe United) — striker
Continued his stellar season by scoring in four straight games as Scunthorpe held onto their automatic promotion place. The variety of his goals - headers, tap-ins and fierce, angled drives from distance, made him difficult to mark.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League head of communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet head of football Paul Wiggins

Sky Bet is the title sponsor of The Football League. The sponsorship includes a revenue share deal with all 72 member clubs.

The revenue share generates money, paid to every club, based on the revenue generated by their fans that sign up and bet with Sky Bet.

Through this ongoing arrangement, Sky Bet is able to add another income stream to every club in The Sky Bet Football League.

The February nominations for the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month Award are:

Dave Flitcroft (Bury)
His shrewd January acquisitions helped to bring about a dramatic transformation in performances and results. The Shakers went unbeaten, picking up 11 points from five games as they moved clear of the relegation zone.

John Sheridan (Plymouth Argyle)
His second year in charge of Argyle began in style with three convincing away victories full of verve in February, including a stunning 4-0 success at Fleetwood Town. This result lifted his side to the edge of the Play-Off positions.

Chris Wilder (Northampton Town)
His first full month in the post renewed hope that relegation can be avoided. Has instilled belief and confidence in his new charges. A vital win away to fellow strugglers Torquay United proved the catalyst in gaining 10 points from six games.

Nigel Worthington (York City)
Masterminded superb away victories at promotion-chasing Fleetwood Town and Plymouth Argyle. An unbeaten month saw his emerging side pick up eight points and concede just one goal to move into the top half.

The judging panel is chaired by former Football League manager Dave Bassett with Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins.
