We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our bid for one of four places to take our youth team on a pre-season tour to Holland.
LFE secured European funding through the Erasmus+ programme, to take 4 teams on a 2 week pre-season trip to The Netherlands in the summer of 2015.
The trip will provide the selected clubs with the opportunity to fully integrate with their host partner club, providing a fantastic opportunity for our young apprentices to learn new skills, train together and gain a real insight into life within a European club. There will be full games against top European teams, as well as a complete social and cultural programme.
In total, the LFE received 23 applications from a wide range of clubs including several Premier League clubs, all competing for the four available spaces. A panel of judges shortlisted applications and then subjected these to further scrutiny. After what seemed a long wait we were told at the end of last week that our application had been successful. Alongside Bury Football Club, the other successful teams were Crewe Alexandra, Millwall and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Club would like to thank Helen Smithson, our Head of Education, who worked closely with the Youth Team coaches to ensure the application reflected the vision and ambitions of the Club.
We would also like to thank the LFE, the FA and Football League for accepting our application. We are thrilled to have been selected and we look forward to working with them to ensure the youth team and their coaches have a brilliant and enjoyable experience.
