A statement from CEO, Glenn Thomas...
The weekend has been and gone and another week beckons… Yet it is incredible that so many people are still talking about Saturday.
I thought that maybe it was just me, but it appears not! I was sat there yesterday thinking that Saturday was very special and not just because of the result.
It was not just the performance of the team but everything else seemed so right, including:
The number of youngsters parading the pitch, which was the largest school turn out I have experienced to date.
The appearance of Scott Quigg, much to the delight of the crowd at half-time – what an incredible person he is as well.
The second-half performance, that clearly demonstrates to so many that we have a team worth watching.
The atmosphere created by the 4600 crowd, that really got behind the lads and then stayed on after the full-time whistle to show their appreciation.
The unity of the team, that was clear for all to see, we are one!
And the comments made by so much of the media, especially the comment “ I couldn’t believe that was Gigg Lane”
There are so many ups and downs in football and life in general, but I am so proud to say that I was part of such a special day. There will be lows ahead, but as a team and with the support of the fans we will make sure there are far more highs!
The next game at home is versus Tranmere on Saturday 4th October and I hope we can break that 5000 figure, and start to convert more and more into the Bury way!!!!
With that in mind, I want to thank you all for the support and for getting behind the team, because as Saturday showed, you really do make a difference.
Between us we will break that 5000 number and keep this momentum going.
Bring on Exeter!
