Death of former Shaker's goalkeeper
Chris Harker - 1937 - 2014
Former keeper passes away aged 77
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of former Bury goalkeeper Chris Harker
Signed from Aberdeen in 1961, Chris went onto make 197 appearances for the Shakers during a five year stint at Bury before he left in 1966 to join Grimsby Town.
Chris started his career at Newcastle United but moved to Aberdeen after he found himself surplus to requirements. Chris will more than likely be best remembered in football as the keeper that stopped Brian Cough's career following a collision at Roker Park on Boxing Day 1962.
Our deepest condolences are extended to the family and friends of Chris ahead of his funeral this coming Friday.
Once a shaker - always a shaker
Rest in Peace Chris
