Ryan Kidd and his coaching staff are now looking to next season's title challenge, after being successful this term.
After their triumphant title win last week, Youth Team Coach Ryan Kidd has admitted that the under-18s have no time to savour the win as they now start planning for next season.
Ryan knows that the most important objective for his side is to develop players to a high enough calibre to join the first team.
He is hoping that the 5 youngsters that have been offered professional contracts will make that a reality in the next 12 months.
Talking after the first-team match on Saturday, he said: “We have already started looking at next season, the future is very bright yet again.
“We’ve got some very talented first year scholars as well as some exciting U16s making the step up.
“I’m sure we can have a go at defending our title next season, but I want to get these youngsters into the first team.
“I want to make sure, if I can, that one of the five players that have been offered pro deals can break that 6 year trend of no players making that progression into a first team regular.”
The team have had a number of trialist’s at Carrington throughout the past couple of months as Kidd and the rest of his coaching staff look for a new in-take of youngsters to subsidise the current under-16s making the step up.
However, he has explained that with the high level of players they already have at their disposal they will only sign the very best available and are willing to wait for that to become available.
He explained: “We’ve had trialist’s come in from all over the country to help us find the best players to sign up, but we have been very selective this year.
“We have such an outstanding group, we won’t take average and it is very hard to get quality no matter where it’s coming from.
“I think we are now starting to get some exciting kids coming in. These are players that clubs have only just decided that they are going to let go, and which is helping us add to the squad.
“We still have a couple of spots available, but I’m not going to sign a player unless they are right for the team.
“We are in a position where we can wait and bide our time a little bit, but we are pleased at the moment with how the team is taking shape.”
