Manager, David Flitcroft can’t wait for the season to get going again away at Doncaster on Saturday.
The Shakers take on Doncaster Rovers this Saturday, at the Keepmoat Stadium, kick-off 3pm.
Manager, David Flitcroft can’t wait to get the season underway with a league match on Saturday, and then a Capital One cup clash against Wigan Athletic, straight up the following Tuesday.
Speaking ahead of the season opener, David Flitcroft said: “I have wanted to get started since we got back, not that I get bored of pre-season because I don’t.
“There’s so much we can do here, and I’ve got incredible staff which makes every day a fantastic day.
“Additionally, we have been able to put structure in place during this pre-season that will help us go forward into the season.
"That is important to do before you start playing for points because as soon as that first game that becomes the focus.
“Now all that has been done, it is now down to the football which is what I love. I can’t wait for Saturday to come around.”
Flitcroft has confirmed that he is happy with the balance of his squad, especially with the six new signings, who he feels have added an extra kick to the side.
However, he feels that his side are still in need of one or two more additions, especially in the defence where the only two fit central defenders are Nathan Cameron and Peter Clarke.
He said: “We’ve got a good balance to the squad, we are still after a couple more because I think we are a little bit short defensively, however in Midfield I have great flexibility, and then I have fantastic options striker wise.
“Up front I have brilliant options, and they are different to what I have had previously here, I think (Tom) Pope and (Leon) Clarke, give me two options that we didn’t have last season.
“We didn’t have that real focal point last season, we had players with fantastic movement and creativity, but Pope and Clarke have given me a different option for our forward play.
“Additionaly, to adding something to our strikeforce this summer, Peter Clarke in our defence has given us a real resilience to our work. He is a born leader and it can only help develop what is a very young back five.”
