Match Preview: Doncaster Rovers

7 August 2015

The Shakers take on Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium this Saturday (8th August KO 3pm) in their season opener after promotion back into Sky Bet League One.

Bury will travel to Doncaster Rovers tomorrow for their 2015/16 season opener, looking to get their season off to winning ways against a side that spent several seasons in the Championship not too long ago.

After promotion from Sky Bet League Two on the last day of the season last year, the Shakers will be firstly looking to consolidate their place in League One as early as possible.

Bury’s opposition, Doncaster Rovers, had a disappointing season in the League last season, finishing 13th in Sky Bet League One after being relegated from the Championship the season before.

However, Doncaster Manager Paul Dickov has made a number of changes to his playing staff as the Club look to push forward after a disappointing few years.

Rovers have added 6 new signings including well travelled midfielder Richard Chaplow and winger Dany N’Guessan, as well as Thorsten Stuckmann, Gary MacKenzie, Aaron Taylor-Sinclair and Andy Williams, who will all be hoping they can make an impact in the squad.

That being said, the likes of Kyle Bennett, Dean Furman and Reece Wabara - who turned down contracts from the Club this summer - could be seen as a big loss for the coming season.

The Shakers are expecting debuts to be given to a number of the Clubs new signings, including new first choice keeper Christian Walton and defensive rock Peter Clarke.

It is also expected to be the first competitive outing for new attacking duo, Leon Clarke and Tom Pope, who have looked strong throughout pre-season.

The Shakers have had numerous injuries throughout the summer, although their unbeaten record proves it hasn’t hindered them, but they are now on track and expecting a virtually full strength team to pick from come 3pm.

Tomorrows’ match will kick-off at 3pm at the Keepmoat Stadium, tickets will be available on the day at the following prices: -
