Youth Report: Bury 0 – 2 Wigan

24 August 2015

The Young Shakers took on Wigan Athletic in their first home game of the season.

The under-18’s faced last year’s North West Youth Alliance runners-up Wigan Athletic in a tight affair that ended 0-2 to the visitors.

The first half was a hard fought battle with both teams struggling to get enough chances to go into the break with a lead.

However, Wigan Athletic got a foot in the game in the second half and this paid off on the 56th minute when a ball over the top of the Young Shakers’ defence was converted past Jack Ruddy.

The Latics then doubled their lead on the 71st minute when the Young Shakers couldn’t clear a Latics corner and Wigan jumped on the loose ball to head it home.

Although a disappointing defeat, the team will take positives from the passing display that was showed by the lads.

The Shakers will now take a break from the League to take on Rochdale at home in the Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday, 11am kick-off.
