Brass Expecting A Good Game

6 February 2015

Chris Brass believes both Bury & Exeter City play exciting football which will make for a good but tough game.

After last week’s defeat against promotion chasing Burton Albion, David Flitcroft’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways in another important match on Saturday against Exeter City.

Speaking ahead of the match Assistant Manager, Chris Brass, spoke of his admiration for the way Exeter City management duo – Paul Tisdale and Steve Perryman – go about their jobs.

He is also of the belief that both teams going about the game the right way with entertaining football, will make for a fantastic game.

Speaking ahead of the match, Chris Brass, said: “It’s a fantastic model they have at Exeter, I spent time around that area with Torquay and then at Exeter, where I worked with Paul Tisdale and Steve Perryman.

“They put a lot of hours in, but they have got it right. They develop, they sell and they have made the club stronger from doing that.

“They had a little bit of a bad spell financially last season, but it was just a case of a lack of finances coming in, it was not their fault.

“They rode through it, stuck to their beliefs and did not change the way they were doing things.

“They have been a credit on the pitch, they have realised that if you want to go to League One it’s a whole different environment because you are challenging a whole host of potential championship clubs which is difficult, but he’s got it right.

“They do play football the right way, it was a fantastic game of football down there earlier this season and I’m expecting the same again.”

Brass feels that the team will be more than ready to play on a the difficult pitch at JD Stadium after adapting there training methods to get the team ready for the rest of the season. However, he does believe that the pitch will get better sooner rather than later.

“We are at the business end of the season where results do matter, and fortunately our form has picked up. We will be approaching in the same manner as we have done, and we’re back on our patch so I’m fully expecting a tough game.

“The thing is, in the madness of the weather it may have firmed things up. We have tried to do the same things and the right things, you have to adapt to a certain level.

“We have had to make a few changes out on the training field to change the mind-set of the players, but the philosophy has not changed with how we are trying to play football moving forward.

“That is a key element in how we develop a player, don’t go route one. There is nothing wrong with it, but we have decided with this group of player’s this is how we are going to go forward and keep evolving.

“The pitch will get better, the weather has not been great which has not helped but going forward the pitch will get better, so the team will get better and then the club will get better.”
