Manager David Flitcroft gives us his reaction to the Shakers move to Carrington
"I have to pinch myself with this groundbreaking deal that the Chairman has worked tirelessly to achieve. It is, in my opinion, the biggest deal ever done in this clubs history. The Chairman and board of directors should be really proud of there incredible efforts.
As we set out on this journey, the biggest component that myself and the chairman discussed was a state of the art training complex. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to become the manager of a football club, based every day, at one of the top ten football training centres in the country.
The perseverance , persistence and sheer determination that the Chairman has had for this project is unique. I can only thank the Chairman, our CEO Glenn Thomas and director of Youth Ian Kendall for pulling off this deal and delivering us a Premiership training ground to work from on a daily basis.
All the hard miles, the late nights and the early Sunday morning trips to such places as Carlisle with the academy have now been rewarded. The children in our academy will have the opportunity to train and play at Carrington, where less than twelve months ago the Premier League Champions trained, as will all grass roots players out there who carry the dream of striving for the opportunity to be spotted and to earn a place in our academy.
We are very proud of the progress and the quality of standards on and off the pitch and today's deal has took us to another level, it will be a great draw for potential players to want to join us from a six year old to first team level.
I love working with players of all ages, to challenge them, to motivate them and to develop them on a daily basis. Now with our Carrington complex it gives us a massive opportunity to deliver on our objective of developing saleable assets for the club.
Together we can create a culture and deep learning environment that will leave a long lasting legacy for Bury Football Club. Today the foundations for the clubs long term business plan has been firmly laid."
