Chief Exec on Carrington

24 February 2015

Chief Executive Officer Glenn Thomas on the capture of Carrington

Speaking late this afternoon, CEO Glenn Thomas gave us his reaction to what we believe is the biggest news story in the clubs 130 year history.

Soon after the announcement was made at lunchtime, Mr. Thomas said:  "Ever since we took over the Club it has been one of the main priorities to secure the right level of training facilities that encompass the ethos of the Boards ambition to take this Club to the next level.

At no point did we expect to have reached this level in such a short space of time, but we are absolutely delighted to have announced the taking over of the Carrington facility.

The facility was the home to the Premier League Champions up until a few months ago and is truly an incredible facility that will be the envy of many Clubs, including some in the Premier League.

Bury Football Club can now have a base that will not only to help develop players of all levels, but attract the best available players that want to be part of the exciting changes being made.

The level of facilities will help the management team to develop and maximise the potential of all our players as well as attract a calibre of player that will be needed to continue the push up the leagues.

We aim to create an Academy that will produce the best players for this Club and compete with our Premier League neighbours. Under the leadership of Ian Kendall and his team, the Academy has passed the EPPP Level 3 Academy process with flying colours’ and all credit to them for making this Club a force to be reckoned with.

We are creating players at all age groups that are attracting interest from Premier league Clubs and the Academy will now be seen as one of the best in the Country.

The credit must go to the Chairman for the time and effort in these negotiations and is yet another chapter in the development of this Football Club."
