A big well done to our under-16 team who are now the Northern area u16 champions.
The team beat Hull City 3-2 at Salford City College on Sunday to set up a tie against the southern champions at a yet to be confirmed venue on Sunday 15th February.
The team rallied well to come from two goals behind to become champions, and everyone at the club is extremely proud of the team.
Director of youth, Ian Kendall, said on the win:
“Having fallen behind to a penalty and a free kick within the first twenty minutes our youngsters battled back to 2-1 just before half time with a cracking volley from 14 year old Rob Harker (take note of that name).
“After the restart the Premier league youngsters were put to the sword with a masterful display of football, the Flitcroft way, with two great goals. Hull pressed hard in the last 10 minutes, but the youngsters held their line to make the final in some style.
“With no less than four under 15s in the side it is small wonder that the ground had more than its fair share of scouts in attendance.
“The success in leagues for both our under 18s and 16s is really a bonus for us at this stage. We are committed to looking after the development interests of the youngsters, and we may well find that we sacrifice league places to give our rising stars the opportunity to play at a level above the age group they are in. “
