Preview: U18s v Wrexham

6 February 2015

The under 18s face Wrexham under 18s on Saturday at Goshen Sports Centre in the Youth Alliance North West league, 11am kick off.

Bury’s Under 18’s will face Wrexham on Saturday looking to keep their title chase alive after their game against league leaders Wigan Athletic was called off last weekend.

The match will be played at Goshen Sports Centre (11am KO) as the Bury youngsters look to keep up there fantastic form of recent weeks to keep on the tail of or even overtake league leaders Wigan, by beating a tough Wrexham side.

Although they are 10th in the North West youth alliance league, the Red Dragons have scored only two less goals than the Shakers meaning they won’t be an easy team to beat.

Speaking ahead of the match Academy Manager, Mark Litherland said: “We played them in the early part of the season and beat them 4-3.

“They played a 4-4-2 formation, with a big centre forward who was quite good at holding the ball up. They like to get it up to him, and have midfielders around him so he can look for players to run in behind him.

“It’s really important that we compete with the first balls played into him, our centre halves are good in the air so we’ll try and compete with that and then pick second balls up.

“If we do that we’ll give them a really good game.”
