Bury U18s kept their unbeaten run going with a win over Accrington Stanley.
Bury U18s stayed top of the Youth Alliance North West table on Saturday with a 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley.
Bury started the game well, pushing forward from the first minute, getting a number of corners and free-kicks which is where their first goal came from on the 18th minute.
Robert Bourne fired a corner into the unmarked Anthony Dudley on the front post; he fired his shot across the goal straight into the back of the net.
Accrington started trying to get into the game testing the keeper twice within 5 minutes, but both shots were from outside the box and easily saved by Jack Ruddy.
However, that short spell was well and truly over after half an hour with the Shakers pushing for a second goal with some good passing play.
On the 34th minute this dominant spell was rewarded with a goal for Brayden Shaw. The goal started with Bourne in the middle of the park, the midfielder’s long field pass found Ben Potter on the by-line who showed great skill to get past his man and pass the ball back to Shaw on the edge of the box who fired the ball into the net.
Shaw this time became creator when the youngsters soon made it 3-0 on 38th minute with George Miller finding the net on his first start after an injury that kept him out for over a month. Shaw got the ball in the middle of the park before driving forward and spraying the ball out to Miller on the wing whose blinding shot went straight past the Stanley keeper and into the net.
Bury went into half-time 3-0 ahead looking likely to extend the score even more in the second half, and that’s exactly what they did on the 50th minute.
Brayden Shaw got his second goal of the game to make it 4-0. Dudley saw his shot from 8yards out touched away by the Stanley keeper, but only to Shaw who calmly placed it into the back of the net.
Bury carried on their dominance with a number of chances but none of real note. Stanley had a number of chances in the last 20 minutes, but Ruddy in the Bury goal had a good game to stop them with little effort.
