The Gaffer spoke to the Bury FC Network after the win against Carlisle on Saturday.
Manager David Flitcroft was happy with the 2-1 win against Carlisle United on Saturday, and especially the way the players showed what they had been working on during training at the end of the game, showing grit and determination to hold onto the lead.
Speaking to the Bury FC Network after the match, Flitcroft said: “I should be sat here now saying it was 6-0 with the chances we created; it should have been out of sight.
“However, in a strange way I’m glad it was a 2-1 tight result, because what I’ve seen from my team in the last ten minutes was something we’ve been working really hard on during training to manage the moment.
“League two teams will throw that ball high and long, and how you manage the game and how you manage those final moments are key.
“We’ve done some brilliant things today in the last ten minutes in a real ugly side of the game to show some real beauty, and that’s impressed me.”
Striker Danny Nardiello could have scored his hat-trick in the match except for a missed penalty, and Flitcroft felt that he was more than deserving.
He said: “He deserved to get a hat-trick today. He’s not got the penalty right, but his second was just exquisite, it was just a fantastic goal.
“So I’m not really disappointed that it wasn’t an annihilation even though that’s what it looked like to me.
“We moved the ball adequately and quickly, I don’t think Carlisle could get near it which meant we had to deal with a real avalanche of direct football, but we coped superbly with it.”
After another brilliant performance by winger Danny Mayor, Flitcroft believes he is more than capable of being a championship standard winger sooner rather than later.
He said: “I’ve loved his performance, it was stunning. The way he moves the ball, he was ruthless today with his approach to getting at the wingers and the centre-halves and going past the midfield players.
“You could see the difference between the performance last week and where the ball was dragging, but the way he glides over that pitch took a special performance from Danny.
“As a football fan I love watching his work and the way he goes about his job. He’s a special player and he’s grown into a top professional.
“I watch a lot of championship football and I don’t see players like Danny Mayor in that league.”
