Nardiello Looking Forward to Local Derby

26 January 2015

Striker Nardiello believes Tuesday evenings League Two clash with Accrington Stanley is important to get a run of form going.

Off the back of a great win on Saturday, the Shakers head up the road to Accrington Tuesday evening to take on Stanley in an important local derby.

Goal hero Daniel Nardiello who grabbed a double during Saturdays 2-1 win against Carlisle United, is looking forward to the match and to carrying on the up-turn in form which has seen the squad move back into the play-off places.

Speaking after the match on Saturday, Danny said: “We’re pleased with the three points, but we have to move onto Tuesday and the local derby against Accrington Stanley. We’ve got to believe we can go there and get the three points.

“It’s a bit more special than your normal fixture; it’s just up the road so it’s a short trip. It’s one a lot of the fans go to, so we’ll be going there wanting to do the fans proud and win the game.

“We’ve always believed in the ability of the squad, and it’s just getting that run together. Where we get a few wins on the bounce, a few draws here and there, so we can climb the table.”

With four first team strikers all vying for a place in the squad in; Danny Nardiello, Danny Rose, Ryan Lowe and Hallam Hope, there is a good amount of competition within the strike force. Nardiello believes that will be an important factor in a good run of form.

He said: “I think we’re one of the only League Two teams with four strikers who are all expecting and wanting to play and it is good competition for places.

“Danny Rose was excellent when he came on during Saturdays game and he was unlucky not to score. The keeper made a great save off one of them, so it’s good competition to have players like that available.”
