Joe Riley feels that the Shakers are the right club for him to progress his career at.
New signing Joe Riley made his debut from the bench at Accrington Stanley last night after coming back from an injury which made him miss out on making an appearance in the first two games since his transfer to the Shakers.
Speaking after the match, the full-back could not hide how happy he is at the club and how quickly he has settled into David Flitcroft's set-up.
He said “It’s been really easy to settle in here, they are a great bunch of lads. I’m a local lad as well which makes it a bit easier.
”It’s been a long time coming really, I think it was my first game for over a month now so it’s just trying to get back into it. I felt a bit leggy fitness wise, but I’ll get there.”
Riley admitted that the main reason he decided to join the Shakers is to help with the clubs goal of getting promotion this season and he believes it is more than achievable with the current set of players.
He said: “This club does not want to be in League Two and I don’t want to be in League Two, we all want to strive forward. That was one of the main things that attracted me here.
“I spoke to the manager and was really taken in by the whole feeling around the club and how they want to push forward and that’s all I really want to do as a player.
“There is a special set of lads here and the quality they have in the group makes them the best squad in the league and I can’t see a reason why we can’t get promoted this season.
“We have to strive for the top, if you miss out in this league you can still get promoted, but if we show the same commitment as we did tonight we won’t be far off.”
