Joe Riley signs two and a half year deal for the Shakers....
Chairman, Stewart Day and Manager, David Flitcroft are delighted to announce the signing of Joe Riley on a 2 and a half year deal from Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
Joe is a product of the Bolton Wanderers youth system, he made his competitive, first-team debut in 2011-12 at the age of 19 in a League Cup tie against Macclesfield Town. Riley went on to make his Premier League debut at right-back in a 5–0 victory over Stoke City at the Reebok Stadium on 6th November 2011, in which he went on to receive a standing ovation by the Bolton fans when he was substituted late in the game. After starting the next game against West Brom, Riley suffered a hamstring injury, which disrupted his debut season and restricted his progress within the team.
The 22-year-old defender, who describes himself as an attacking full-back, is no stranger to Sky Bet League 2, having just finished a 5 month loan spell at Oxford United, making 22 appearances.
The Gaffer added “Joe Riley, who we have been tracking for some time, is another fantastic addition to the group. He represents the type of player we are looking to recruit for short, medium and long term success. He loves to drive forward from full back and has a controlled aggression about his work. He is both athletic and dynamic and will offer us both great quality and energy in the wide areas of the pitch.”
Joe has signed a two and a half year deal with the Club and is extremely keen to get started and settled at the JD Stadium.
Joe will take squad number 23.
