Bury FC shows its commitment to growing the game locally, for children of all ability levels
Bury FC want to enable all children to be able to play football in an environment that will enable them to realise their full potential.
The club showed the strength of this belief three years ago by establishing Bury FC Youth, its very own junior grassroots club. It has added to this commitment this year by organising regular development sessions for local children to allow them to find a way to play regularly and improve their skills.
We are very pleased to be able to announce that, from next season, there will be even more options for local children. An agreement has been reached to join Bury FC Youth with Bury Juniors, a local grassroots club with over 30 years playing history.
There are exciting times ahead for this ‘new’ club as it looks likely that it will have over 20 teams next year and work is underway to establish options for interested parents right the way through from U6 through to U21.
Bury FC Juniors & Youth, as the new grassroots club will be called, will be a place where children of all ability levels will be welcome. The team are currently working on building fresh teams for children, and a large number of these do not currently have a home from their talents.
Jonathan Walsh, Bury FC Grassroots Development Manager, commented…
“It’s brilliant news. It was obvious straight from the outset that both clubs shared so much in common. There is a real desire to add to the strengths of the teams already in place and to create a brilliant culture for kids to enjoy playing football. We can hopefully give the junior members of the club a real attachment to Bury FC and we look forward to finding ways of giving them special experiences on match days at the JD stadium that enable them to feel like a big part of the Shakers family.
I would like to give a massive public thank you to all the committee, parents and members of Bury Juniors who have had the vision and enthusiasm to bring this project to fruition… especially people like Anne Murray, Martin Rigby and Darren Lindsay... true grass roots heroes who do not always get the recognition they deserve.”
