Bury Youth Team beat Manchester Football League Premier Division side Prestwich Heys 2-1 last night in an entertaining affair.
Ryan Kidd's side got their pre-season rolling with a hard fought 2-1 win over local side Prestwich Heys.
The youngsters went 1-0 down to a well worked Heys goal on the 24th minute, when Martin Love was played into space and slotted past Rhys Williams.
However, the Young Shakers fought back and on the 31st minute George Miller slotted a shot calmly into the bottom left hand corner of the Heys net to get the equaliser.
Brayden Shaw was thwarted on two occasions in a matter of minutes by some good goalkeeping just before half-time, when he had two shots saved by the Heys 'keeper.
After the break Bury kept pushing and on the 54th minute got their just rewards with Ciaron Best smashing the ball home after a Sam Gibson cross was put across goal by Raquarn Crosdale.
Prestwich Heys looked to get something out of the game and gave the youngsters a very good test, but the youngsters stayed strong to deny them.
Next up for Ryan Kidds' side will be several behind closed doors matches in the next week, before they then head to Holland on July 27th to take on:
Vitesse Arnhem U19s (Saturday, August 1), VFL Bochum U17s (Tuesday, August 4), Willem II U17s (Saturday, August 8).
