Shakers defender Joe Riley, says he is looking forward to coming up against his old club Oxford United at the weekend.
Joe Riley will be facing his old loan side Oxford United on Saturday at the JD Stadium, for the first time since making his move from Bolton Wanderers in January.
Riley spent five months on-loan at the Kassam Stadium, making 28 appearances. He is hoping that his knowledge of the side will help Bury get the win come 3pm on Saturday.
Speaking after Tuesday night’s match against Luton, Joe said: “I’m really looking forward to that game, it was the first game I looked at when I came here.
“It’ll be nice to see some faces that were down there, but the main thing is that we win the game and get the three points.
“Come Saturday at 3 o’clock, there will be no friends in terms of me. I just want to get the win.”
After a tough start to his Bury career, picking up an injury early on, he has now found his feet at the club.
He is currently seen as the first choice for right-back in a back four that has let in only one goal in the past five games, with four clean sheets in that time.
With this in mind Joe has admitted that he settled almost instantly at the club and that’s a big factor in his recent form.
He said: “It’s been really easy to settle in to be honest, the lads have made me feel really welcome and I think that’s showing in my performances.
“There’s still a long way for me yet, I think I can get a lot better. I’m still finding my feet at the club, but I’m feeling really comfortable here.
“When I was at Oxford, Bury were the team we were looking at thinking they have a very strong squad this year and since I’ve come here I’ve seen that day in, day out.”
