Tom Soares has spoke of his disappointment of losing against Oxford United on Saturday
Saturday’s game against Oxford United was marred by controversy, however midfielder Tom Soares believes that regardless of any controversy they should have done more for the result.
The Shakers went down to 10-men mid-second half and struggled to get back into the game with the U's eventually scoring with five minutes to go. This stopped Bury making it seven games unbeaten in the league.
Soares admitted that the performance was disappointing and the team didn’t make as many chances for themselves as they would have liked, but they will stay positive and move onto the next game.
Speaking after the match, Tom Soares said: “It was very disappointing, especially after the run we have been on. It’s just one of those things; we have got to stay positive, move on and hopefully put another run together.
“I don’t think we created much, so it’s pretty difficult to say we should have come away with the three points, but I don’t think they created much either.
“It was a tough game, but that’s the way it was always going to be. I think from now until the end of the season they are all going to be tough.
“We need to go out there, do our job in the best way we can because like I’ve said there’s going to be a lot of tough games now.”
Tom believes that the team have to keep their heads and move onto the next match against Mansfield Town, and look to get another run together to maintain their promotion push.
He said: “There’s going to be days when your game plan doesn’t quite go the way you want it to and sometimes maybe the ref and his decisions will play a part in that.
“But you have to keep your head and stick to the plan. It’s inevitable that it may happen again before the end of the season that’s football.
“We need go out there to win every game. It’s important that we do that if we’re going to get promoted and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
