Statement: Supporter Banned

4 March 2015

Incident at the Accrington Stanley game forces club to ban a supporter

During the recent game at Accrington Stanley, a blue smoke grenade was ignited and thrown onto the pitch from the away supporters stand.

The person who threw the grenade/flare was quickly identified and captured by the stewards at the game.

The club would like to point out that this individual was not a regular supporter of Bury FC but after consultation have  followed the advice of the FA in this matter, in that:-

Bury FC have imposed a club ban on the person who was detained preventing him from attending the JD Stadium

The Club has made their decision public in order to act as a deterrent should anyone consider it acceptable to take such a device to any football stadium.

Any future incidents  will lead to disciplinary action being taken by the Football Club and/or the relevant footballing authorities.

The FA and the Football Club now consider this incident as closed
