Kelvin Etuhu extends his Shakers deal until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Midfielder Kelvin Etuhu has put pen to paper on a one-year extension to his current contract, and will remain with the Shakers until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Kelvin’s first season at the JD Stadium brought success with the Shakers gaining promotion to Sky Bet League One on the final day of the campaign. Kelvin made 46 appearances last season for Bury, scoring two vital goals for the club.
Speaking this afternoon, manager David Flitcroft said: “I’m delighted that Kelvin has extended his contract with us. By him signing the contract, it represents the progress being made at the club. He is a born leader and loves the responsibility in the dressing room and out on the pitch. Having played 46 games last season, Kelvin understands what we are about; he understands the drive that as a club, we have given him and where we want to be. Kelvin is the type of player that is not motivated by money, but by memories of a fantastic season, and that has played a massive part in his thought process in agreeing his extension.
He is a highly respected member of the squad and well loved by all the staff and players. He has made connections with lots of people involved at the club and backs you 100% in everything that we as staff ask him to do. He is a player that we know can progress with the club. His capture is a fantastic signing by the club and shows the progress being made. He drives for success and wants that success at Bury Football Club. With Kelvin now signed until 2017, we know this will alert our potential targets to make the decision to come to us. We are a progressive club and Kelvin has seen that, especially with our training complex at Carrington, a place where he can develop his trade with the facilities that we can offer players wanting to develop.”
