Joseph Dodoo joins the Shakers on loan from Leicester City
Following the Shakers Capital One Cup second round exit at the hands of Leicester City earlier this season, a game where young Joseph Dodoo claimed a debut hat trick for the Foxes, manager David Flitcroft expressed his praise for the youngster by stating: “I want him on loan”.
Now some three months later, Flitcroft has finally got his man after the 20 year old striker put pen to paper on a months loan. Joseph will remain at Gigg Lane until 18 December.
A product of the Leicester City academy, Joseph was handed his full Leicester debut by Claudio Ranieri for the game against Bury at Gigg Lane. His debut brought a hat trick for Leicester as they went on to win 4-1. Since that game, Joseph has made a further three appearances for the Foxes, and has scored a further goal – giving him a goal a game ratio for Leicester.
Joseph will take squad number 36 whilst with the Shakers
Manager David Flitcroft said this afternoon: -
‘Obviously we have been tracking Joseph since he scored his hat trick against us in the Capital One Cup. That game left a good impression of our club with Claudio Ranieri and he felt it that we are a good club for Joseph to come to.
Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare has made sure we were the right club to help develop him to the next level, as this is a good opportunity to get some game time and Leicester want us to do that
Joseph is a highly driven individual; and we have been very patient with this since the cup game and have been tracking and watching most of his games with Neil Howarth watching most of the games he has taken part in.
I’m delighted to be able to work with Joseph and I thank Leicester for allowing us to have him. Their excellent start to their season has allowed them to let him come out to us.
I spoke to Joseph this morning and told him that players such as Jermaine Defoe, Harry Kane, Danny Rose (Tottenham) and Danny Drinkwater all used the loan market to benefit their career’s, hopefully Joseph can do the same.”
