The Shakers take on Scunthorpe United in Sky Bet League One tonight at Gigg Lane, 7.45pm kick off.
November, 7.45pm kick-off, looking to carry on their upturn in form during recent weeks. thBury face Scunthorpe United in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday 24
The Shakers had a great start to the season, which catapulted the recently promoted side into the play-off places, they then however had a short slump in form which saw them pick-up only two points in four league games.
A big factor in this was the amount of injuries throughout the squad, which made it hard to keep a stable starting line-up, but those players are now close to returning including Kelvin Etuhu and Craig Jones – who both made substitute appearances on Saturday.
Bury are going into the game on the back of a brilliant win against one of the surprise outfits of the League Burton Albion, who are currently fighting for promotion.
On the other hand Scunthorpe started the season poorly accumulating just 2 wins in 10 League games, but they soon turned this form around and have now moved up the table to 15th.
However, the Iron have lost their last 2 games to Swindon Town and Bradford City, which will make them even more hungry to get a result tonight at the expense of Bury.
David Flitcroft has been given the chance over recent weeks to give game time to youngsters like Jack Ruddy, Khalid Mohamed and Scott Burgess, however he believes that having players with more experience on the bench is a big plus.
One player whom Flitcroft believes brings exactly that, is Kelvin Etuhu who has recently returned from a stint on the physio table. David Flitcroft explained:
“To be successful in anything you do, you have got to have competition, if you look at any of the top teams in our League or any League, they have big squads.
“All top teams have squads where you can bring one out and bring the next one in, we have called on the likes of Khalid Mohamed who we’ve bought in from the Youth Team, but Kelvin Etuhu right now is a completely different proposition to putting Khalid on.”
The Iron have no new injury concerns, but after back to back defeats in their last two games Mark Robins may be tempted to freshen up his side against the Shakers.
Tickets for the match are priced at Category C.
Full commentary of the match will be live on Shakers PlayerHD, so you won’t miss anything if you can’t make the game.
