Match Preview: Rochdale (H)

16 October 2015

The Shakers take on fierce rivals Rochdale in Sky Bet League One on Saturday 17th October, kick-off 3pm.

Bury will be looking to carry on their brilliant unbeaten run in the League against rivals Rochdale tomorrow having not lost in the last 10 Sky Bet League One fixtures. Due to this brilliant run, the Shakers are currently sitting fourth in the League, but could move into the top spot if results go their way.

Rochdale themselves have had a good start to the season, having only slipped out of the play-off places after a frustrating 3-2 defeat to Sheffield United last weekend.

Bury Manager David Flitcroft will be taking on his old friend in Keith Hill the current Rochdale Manager – who he was Assistant Manager for at Rochdale and Barnsley - on Saturday for only the second time since becoming the Shakers’ Manager.

Flitcroft said on the match-up between the two friends, that he has great respect for Hill, but both of them will be going out on Saturday looking for three points.

He said: “We want to win the game, and they want to win the game and that’s all it is, but before it, after it and during it we are friends and the respect level should be there.”

The Shakers are looking very light in numbers going into the match with Ryan Lowe, Danny Nardiello, Andrew Tutte, Kelvin Etuhu and Keil O’Brien all still injured and not expected to be ready to make an appearance just yet.

Flitcroft will have to make a decision on midfielder Danny Mayor who was unavailable against Wigan Athletic, and still struggling to get back to full fitness.

He explained “He’s just been doing a bit of work in the pools and some very light training. We get the end results back today (Friday) and we’ll go from there.

“Danny’s onaregime of less than moderate training at the moment until we get to the bottom of the problem.”

Full-back Chris Hussey is suspended for the match, which means the ever present will need to be replaced. Young left footed centre-back Matty Foulds will not be played on Saturday, as Flitcroft is keepinghimout of harms way in order for him to complete a move out of the building.

Rochdale could be without Calvin Andrew, Rhys Bennett and Ian Henderson who are all a doubt for the match with injuries.

Tickets are Category A for the fixture.

Live commentary of the match will be available on Shakers PlayerHD at approximately 2.55pm tomorrow afternoon.
