Match Preview: Peterborough United (A)

29 September 2015

The Shakers travel to Peterborough United tonight in Sky Bet League One looking for their fifth win a row, kick-off 7.45pm.

Bury take on Peterborough tonight looking to end September in perfect style with 5 wins in 5 matches, a run that has seen the side catapult themselves into the play-off places.

During the month the team have beaten promotion pushing sides including Walsall, Sheffield United and Coventry City. They will now come up against another tough test in Peterborough United who have started the season disappointingly, but they are now currently unbeaten in three games.

The Shakers themselves will be in high spirits after a great month which will give them a real determination to bring the three points back to Gigg Lane, especially as this could move them into the automatic places if other results go their way.

However, with a new lease of life under new manager Graham Westley – who will be taking charge of his first game at the ABAX Stadium - the Posh will be a tough opposition to overcome.

The Shakers will still be without a number of players including Kelvin Etuhu, Ryan Lowe, Keil O’Brien, Andrew Tutte and Danny Nardiello.

These injuries mixed with an already small squad have allowed for a number of youngsters to be given a chance on the bench during recent matches, these youngsters include Khalid Mohamed, Anthony Dudley, Jack Ruddy and Matty Foulds.

David Flitcroft has spoken of his pride that he is now able to give a chance to these youngsters, speaking after the match on Saturday he said:

“We are in the stage of really trying to improve the youngsters at our football club, we have had 4 youngsters on the bench against Coventry City and all of them have been training with the first team for quite a while and it’s brilliant to give them that chance.”

Peterborough will also be without a number of their players with Kgosi Ntihe and Jack Baldwin missing out. Joe Gormley and Harry Beautyman are also expected to miss out with minor injuries.

They will also be without the services of midfielder Jermaine Anderson who is currently serving a three match ban after being sent off against Walsall.

If you can’t make the match Shakers PlayerHD will have live commentary of the match from around 7.35pm this evening.
