Young Shakers draw at Wigan

26 April 2016

The Youth Team claimed an important point at Wigan Athletic this afternoon

A 69th minute Callum Styles goal for the Shakers Youth Team put the Shakers ahead at Robin Park only for Wigan’s Callum Lang to equalise some eight minutes later.  Despite chances at both ends to win the game, it finished all square at 1-1.

The Shakers were a point ahead of Wigan going into this game, although the Latics have a game in hand.  Today’s result now means that the Young Shakers now need three points from their final game of the Season at Fleetwood at the weekend and must then hope that Wigan fail to collect points in their two remaining games.

The ball is firmly in Wigan’s hands as to who lifts the Youth Alliance Championship.

As it stands now, Bury lead the table on 58 points having played 27 games.  Wigan are a point behind but have a game in hand on the Shakers.  The Youth Team are away at Fleetwood Town on Saturday in their final game of the season.
