Bury FC Ladies complete signing of first International player
Bury FC Ladies First team have are delighted to announce they have completed the signing of their first ever International player. Icelandic international Hulda Sigurðardóttir, has signed for the club following her move to the UK this summer.
Hulda will be sponsored by The Football College, who are the official sponsor of Bury FC Girls and Ladies and The Football College are extremely proud to sponsor the Ladies first International signing and this shows another strength of the partnership created between the two entities.
From 2009-2012 Hulda played for Fylkir in the Icelandic Ladies First division and, during the period 2007 to 2010, Hulda proudly represented Iceland's under-17 and under-19 team and scored one goal for her country.
From 2012-2014 Hulda played for Second division team Haukar where she was named Most Valuable Player for all 3 years there. Following her spell with Haukar Hulda gained a scholarship to play in the USA and played for King University in Tennessee 2014-2016.
Hulda commented on her signing: “When I came to training all the girls were really nice and welcoming. I also noticed that the manager is a very good coach and clearly knows what he is doing. He has a lot of varieties in practice, which I like, and it is similar to back home in Iceland”.
First team Manager and Head of Football for The Football College Paul Iannaccone said: “We are delighted the welcome Hulda to our club. As soon as we saw her play we knew she would be a fantastic addition and someone that can further improve us and help to get us to the next level. This is the second high-profile signing we have had this season along with Leah Tibbott from Manchester City and we hope there are more to come and we continue to grow and develop in the coming years”.
