Match Report: Barnley 3 - 0 Bury

The key points from the Shakers' 3-0 defeat to Barnsley at Oakwell.

  • Barnsley start the game as the better side, with Bury struggling to get into their final third.
  • 11 Adam Hammill tries to bend a shot into the net from the left but Lawlor is there with safe hands
  • 14 Shot by Adam Hammill just on the edge of the box falls into Ian Lawlor's hands and DannyMayor has a shot at the other end which goes over the bar.
  • 20 GOAL for Barnsley. Marley Watkins finds a small space between Ian Lawlor and the post to sneak the ball in.
  • The Shakers start to press looking to get back into the game.
  • 25 A Chris Hussey free-kick is saved by Adam Davies. Davies starts a counter-attack which which leads toa Sam Winnall header going over the bar.
  • 29 CHANCE. Great run by Danny Mayor, he finds Leon Clarke 20 yards out who hits it on the half-volley, but it's high and wide
  • 41 John O'Sullivan puts a great ball into the box, but it evades everyone in the box with a number of players going close to it before it's eventually cleared
  • 45 Another great ball by John O'Sullivan followed minutes later,  Leob Clarke nearly gets a touch to it, but he can't stretch enough. It then almost sneaks in on it's own but goes agonisingly wide of the post.
  • Half-Time score: Barnsley 1 - 0 Bury
  • Bury Sub: Craig Jones on for John O'Sullivan
  • 51 Barnsley go close as Aidan White breaks through the Bury defence, has a shot which goes just over the bar.
  • 55 GOAL for Barnsley. Sam Winnall sweeps up the ball from the feet of Ian Lawlor and puts it in the net. 2-0
  • Bury under-18's top goalscorer George Miller came on for Reece Brown to make his professional debut for the Shakers.
  • 66 GOAL for Barnsley! Hammill smashes the ball past Ian Lawlor for the Tykes third goal. 3-0.
  • The game continued with neither team really getting themselves into any real goal scoring positions.
  • 89 Fantastic save by Lawlor to deny Barnsley substitute Josh Scowen a good chance from 20 yards out.
  • Three minutes of added time were given, but the game ended 3-0 to the Tykes.
