The Football College student Danny Ashburner has signed semi-professional terms for local side Radcliffe Borough.
Danny Ashburner, Second year scholar has followed in the footsteps of Radcliffe Borough captain Rick Smith by signing semi-professional forms as a direct pathway from The Football College at Bury FC.
The Football College combines full time education with academy coaching for school leavers aged 16-18 for players of all abilities. Danny has established himself in the Shadow Youth Squad within the College which has led to his identification by the first team management at Radcliffe Borough.
After training with the first team for 5 weeks, Danny played his first game on the 2nd February for Radcliffe Borough when he came off the bench against Colwyn Bay in the League Cup.
Danny then played 70 minutes on Wednesday 10th February v Stalybridge Celtic in the Manchester County Cup Semi-Final establishing his position in the squad. Danny will continue his education at The Football College (Bury FC) and combine this with representing Radcliffe Borough at first team level.
The Football College provides player pathways at professional, semi-professional and grassroots levels. As well as educational pathways to University both externally and at Bury FC in the form of The Football University.
If you are a school leaver planning for September 2016 and interested in being part of The Football College come along to our Open Evening on Wednesday 9th March 2016 (Education Campus, Gigg Lane, Bury, BL9 9HR) 5pm-9pm. During this open evening, our current students will be playing on the first team pitch in the Lancashire FA Floodlit League which you can watch.
