Charlton Athletic provide the opposition in the opening game of the new season
Relegated Charlton Athletic visit Gigg Lane to kick off the 2016/17 season on Saturday 6 August in one of two home league games during the month of August. The tough start to the campaign also brings two away games at Gillingham and Coventry City before Oldham arrive at BL9 on 20 August. The Shakers finish the month of with a visit to Walsall on 27 August.
Some notable dates from the new fixture list sees another relegated side visiting Gigg Lane on 22 October when Bolton Wanderers arrive in Bury. The Shakers also pay a visit to Spotland for the derby game with Rochdale a week before on 15 October.
The Festive period is mostly away from Gigg Lane with trips to Fleetwood Town and Bradford City on Boxing Day and New Years Eve respectively. The New Year kicks off with Sheffield United visiting Gigg Lane.
East Weekend for the Shakers has become ‘Derby Weekend’ for the Shakers with Rochdale visiting Gigg Lane on Saturday 15 April before Bury make the trip to the Macron Stadium and a visit to Bolton Wanderers two days later on Monday 17 April.
The season comes to an end on Sunday 30 April with a long trip to Roots Hall and a final game of the season at Southend United.
