Former Bolton Wanderers defender Niall Maher joins Bury on 12-month deal
20-year-old full back Niall Maher has joined Bury, signing a 12-month deal, after being released by neighbours Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season.
Despite his age, Manchester born Niall had been involved with Bolton Wanderers for a decade, joining their Youth & Academy system as a ten-year-old.
Progress through the Trotters Academy system saw the young defender loaned out to Blackpool during the 2014/15 season, where he made ten appearances, and made his debut for the Seasider’s as a second half substitute replacing current Shaker
Peter Clarke in an unfortunate 7-2 defeat against Watford.
His first team debut for Bolton came towards the end of last season in a Championship defeat against Reading.
In total, Niall has made a total of 15 appearances and joins Bury on a 12-month deal.
