The young Shakers kept their title chase alive with a convincing 3-0 win over Burnley under-18s on Saturday at Carrington.
Bury ensured that their dream of bagging the North West Youth Alliance title for the second year in a row was still in tact with a fantastic 3-0 win over Sky Bet Championship leaders Burnley’s under-18s side.
Academy prospect Dion Johnston scored a double within 17 minutes with two poachers efforts to ensure the Shakers went in at half-time 2-0 up.
Defender Liam Williams added to the scoreline with a deftly executed header from a Khalid Mohamed free-kick to ensure the Shakers kept on the tail of first placed Wigan Athletic in the Youth Alliance League.
The Shakers still sit third in the League on the same points as second placed Walsall, but with three games in hand over their West Midland rivals.
A number of players in the team were trialists or academy players who will have given youth manager Ryan Kidd food for thought looking at recruits for next season with no less than nine players due to graduate in the summer.
